Let’s get nostalgic!

Monday, July 30th, 2007 | 31 Comments

For some time now I’ve been after my Mom to find two boxes of photos I had as a pre-teen. I somehow lost them in the mix of moving and am pretty damn convinced they’re hidden away in my parents’ attic.

So in ‘93 all I wanted for Christmas was a Polaroid Captiva camera. It was awesome. I got it (obviously) and it worked for a good 3 years. During that time I had oodles of photos all stored in 2 Oreo Cookie Christmas Tins.

What’s weird is how both these things are somewhat “vintage” now. I’m so old… And I still don’t have my photos. I visit my parents in December and really hope to find them then.

I do have this one on me though…

—————————-
Found this too. A photo my Mom took in 1978 of a birdbath she created/painted. It’s a mouse floating down with a leaf.

—————————-
Also found this photo I took while in Köln, Germany (’00) and noticed the Agfa store and nearly died. OH PAST JEN, I MUST FORCE YOU TO GO INTO THE STORE AND HORDE FILM FOR YOUR FUTURE OBSESSION!!! GAAAH

—————————-
Lastly, another ‘00 photo. A Polaroid that Mike took of us right before Christmas. We had been dating for about a month…

I always loved my parent’s old polaroid photos. I don’t know if it’s the white borders or what, but they just have the coolest cameras.

I love old pictures. These ones are so pretty! I especially love the one of you and Mike. That is so sweet. I sometimes want to ditch my digital and move onto the old school cameras. Developing film and all seems so classy.

I also love vintage photos. They just have so much character to them and they seem more candid then photos we take now. I purchased a Holga camera off of ebay to hopefully recreate that vintage, authentic look in some of my photos!

Oh that’s so cool. It’s funny how I hardly have hard prints of my photos anymore. It’s all digital and it’s not as great as physically holding and seeing it off the screen. It’s more real that me. I try to print a few good ones, but ink is so expensive that I limit myself to like one or two print outs.

Wow, apparently you’ve been into photography for a long~ time. And you are good at it too! Ah, nostalgic memories are always nice I hope you’ll find those old photos! Maybe I should take more photos now since I’ll probably end up with no records of memory once I get older

And don’t say vintage - you’re making me feel old!!!

Oh, look at that redish-ness! I have some photos that look like that too, but they’re not taken by me *feels young* … But I didn’t have a polaroid camera, I dearly wanted one too but never got one… :( I hope you find that Oreo box, if they’re still in there, so you can get all those photos back again. Losing photos is awful, but finding them when you didn’t know you had them feels like Christmas

Wow, a real polaroid camera! I used to want one too, but I guess I should be happy with my digital camera. Although, now that photos don’t come out in hard copies, I tend to lose a lot of pictures that I take (i.e. hard drive crashes and such). Poo.
