Popteen Diet Pages

Wanted to share this curling tutorial from Zipper

extra large version

It’s my edamame plant! Well, 1 of them. So big now, right?! It’s beginning to flower which means soybeans soon!

Next week Mike suggested we go on a 4 week super diet program! This of course after I called him a saboteur for constantly destroying my diet! We were at CVS the other day and as we leave he goes, “I bought 2 Milky Way Midnights! 1 for me & 1 for you!” OMFGG!@##$%!!! That’s MY FAVORITE CANDY BAR he knew I couldn’t resist that 230kcal snack attack! Whhhhhhhhhy? It’s really like he’s doing it on purpose. I ended up eating half of it and then feeling sick from all the sugar. Which I guess is good??? I used to less sugar already.

I’ve also started buying high protein items. It’ll help with getting tone! We’re going to do TaeBo every other day starting next week, TOGETHER!

I like the taste of regular Special K and figured this tasted the same. NOPE! It actually tastes BETTER! Yea, rice milk, because I’m lactose intolerant. I like rice milk more than soy.

Speaking of Special K I buy the whole grain Special K crackers but then I open up Popteen and see they sell cocoa versions in Japan!! WTF!? All I ever see is regular whole grain or some gross tomato-basil versions here!

So I scanned in the diet inserts from the past two month’s Popteens. Of course a big food theme was cabbage!

Another big theme was taking long hot baths!

CREEPIEST

aaaahahahah I’ll pass on the sweaty bag on face-ness
Though this girl was super determined and lost a crapload of weight! (20kg!)

Download ALL? download zip file

I’ve got some older scans of exercises here!

That sweat bag made me LOL I guess I’m the girl with the book- call me weird but I NEVER have a bath without fruit, water [to drink] and a book. The best bath fruit so far would be cherries Eating cherries while having a bath with a good book is really heaven!
I hope you have a successful diet!

Gosh, these popteen models are so skinny that they make me feel so jealous. D:

Good luck on your diet. I’m still working on mine but it’s kind of half failing because it’s been raining the past couple of days so I can’t go out and ride my bike! =(

I hate Taebo. ;-; We had to do it middle school and it was so embarrassing haha
The bag lady cracked me up!
And all those diet ladies.. holy crap. They make me want to go bulimic ):
Man, I want to lose weight fast too. Hahah.
Thanks for all the inspirational scans, Jen! ^^

Jenny said
June 19, 2009 @ 7:14 am

It actually took most of the girls months~ I dunno if that’s “fast?” I wouldn’t considerate it so.

Oh! Taebo is good but I think you guys should get Wii Active (or something like that) by EA Games. They released it sometime last month and it’s supposed to be better than Wii Fit … and man I got good results with Wii Fit.

Have you tried Almond Milk? I like it better than rice milk for my subsittute-milk needs because it’s a little thicker and I like the nutty taste. What’s REALLY good is the horchata flavored ricemilk. Yum.

Jenny said
June 19, 2009 @ 7:15 am

OH THANKS!!! I’ve been wondering about Almond milk but I’m paranoid to try new milk substitutes. I’ll try it out though! I’d like a nutty taste. I mean, they’ll never taste like REAL milk so why try so hard? Flavor is a plus!

Yay protein and Special K!!!
Hm, I didn’t know rice milk existed. My stomach is a bit sensitive to dairy (mostly milk/cheese… if I eat a lot of it I feel so sick!) So this rice milk might be a nice alternative!

And I really want to start eating more cereal!!!

i hope you don’t get obsessed with ur weight.
that happened to me a few years ago and it didn’t turn out to be healthy xD…try doing a regular sport like gymnastics(ur height is actually perfect for it) and u’ll loose body fat very quickly + have some nice and healthy muscles.
u’ll have a few change in eating habits bcs ur body will be cravling for proteins and nothing else ^^
i think it’s called “taisou” in japanese and a pretty popular sport in japan too.

Nah, it’s just for getting back down to the weight I was in college before senior year (when I gained it ALL.) My BMI will still be in the normal range

HAHAHA! Cannot stop laughing at the stupid sweat bag, she looks like she belongs to the KKK. Is that joke too taboo? LOL

High protein diets are very good! My sister told me it keeps you from getting hungry so I try to eat a lot of protein. I find that chewing on anything keeps me from snacking… sometimes I feel like I snack because I’m bored. I always chew on my straws, so when I feel like snacking I just grab a straw and chew on it. Really weird but it helps a lot! I don’t feel the need to snack at all when I do that.

Jenny said
June 19, 2009 @ 7:16 am

Yea! I “chew” on sunflower seeds at work to keep me from hard core snacking!

LMAO! Why has that girl got a bag over her head?!?!

GOOD LUCK with the diet Ray is totally the same with me. I’m trying to lose some weight I’ve put on my stomach (where I’ve never put on weight before!!!) and he keeps asking if I want more of this and more of that - “Are you sure? Are you very sure?” Men!

Oh lord All these magazines with these weight loss tips makes me scared. I’m sure they work but these girls are like… “oh noooo I used to weigh 120 pounds! Now I’m happy at 85 WOOHOO!” It’s hilarious and frightening O_O keep a little meat on them bones ladies!

Anyway, good luck, you’re on the roll it seems =) from the looks of your pics I’m sure you don’t have much to go!

Also thanks for the tutorial, it is good!

I purchased seeds and planted those! I got mine off amazon.com because I couldn’t find any in a local store. I don’t think soybean growing is very popular is the US yet =Y. They sprout really fast and seem pretty hardy plants!

Good luck with the diet, bebe~!! I really admire your strength! I’ve been doing so bad on mine lately, mou… But I’ve decided to cut a lot of sugar from my diet too, including Starbucks lattes (which are my favourite! *cries*)

I’m jealous of the Japanese SK cocoa crackers too!! I bought the tomato-basil ones, but I’m kind of scared to try them I think I am going to try the protein Special K too! Protein is awesome for making you stay fuller for longer~

Wishing you the best though~!!

jenny said

Tell me how those are OK? I see the Tomato Basil but I’m just paranoid. The whole grain ones are pretty yummy and more filling than their “breakfast” which I tried back in uni.

I’m the same, I get antsy after 10minutes but sometimes I force myself to stay and after another 10 minutes I’m 100% comfy and never want to get out .

tip:
take it from some one who works with women ALL day (im a cosmetologist) and takene that some of my coworkers have tried probably ever way imaginable to loose weight.

the best way is to tone and eat stuff with carbs, but keep the servings a fistfull. also snacking isnt bas so long as you keep the snacks healthy, organic is the best way to go with that.

good luck!!

I’m trying to loose weight, too…(I think I mentioned this before.) I know you can sweat a lot in the bath, but I had no idea you could really loose weight from it! @_@ I mostly want to get rid of tummy fat…and imagine that your exercise book has something just for that…guess I’ll try it!
I know what you mean though…
I went on a diet and my mom started buying me CHIPS and CUPCAKE MIX and FROSTING and CARBS GALORE…It’s so frustrating.
I had no idea a single candy bar had that many calories! Wow…

I saved it in a folder called “exercise” *fail* haahaaa so I have NO CLUE. Must have been around August 2007 since that’s when the post’s dated. BUT I do know that the black & white pages I scanned are from another magazine issue around that time and I think it was Ray.

(Comments wont nest below this level)

Oooh, your edamame plant is doing really well!

Men do that “Oh, hi I accidentally bought your favorite super-high-kcal snack!” thing on purpose. I swear.
At least your hubby volunteered to help you out afterwards, though!

Whoa, Cabbage soup diet flashback.
