Tokyo Girl’s Collection A/W 09

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009 | 52 Comments

I’ve been meaning to mention (in case I hadn’t already, I think I only twittered it weeks ago) but Cher is leading on that this will be their final brand book that will include eco bags as the gift. They say that’s why there’s two bags this time. I came across the official Magazine+Book page and it reminded me. I wanted to share in case anyone was contemplating buying one from amazon.jp or ebay or something.
Official Publishing Page

Tokyo Girl’s Collection

The Autumn/Winter show took place this Saturday. The most prominent key item was of course thigh high boots. Followed by the continuing trend of 80’s fashion love with black leather and animal print leaking into just about every collection shown.

Dear lord the gun… I blame America for this fashion prop, hahaha

Lacey or torn black tights/leggings were huge. I already bought some lacey black tights for the upcoming season change. A MUST get!

Dj Caroline D’Amore & マリエ
haaahhaa whuut
watch the music video to know the significance~!

Looks like there’s a slight trend for working a maxi dress into autumn apparel which is nice if you bought one after this summer’s maxi dress boom! :good:

I just love this outfit! It’s so fun and easy~

My favorites :kittylove:

Tsubasa looking quite elegant!

Here’s a nice page of all the model’s who appeared with links to their blogs.

I wish there was an accessible store for me to get all these clothes :/

Same here. Though I did see a similar fur coat at Forever 21 this weekend plus Free People has a pinstripe long pant jumpsuit but it’s hardly the same~

I did find lacy black tights at Target though! (*not sure where you live though)

wooow so what brands comprise of tokyo girl fashion show? or is that a brand in itself ?!?!

these fashion shows are very street approved.
more than ready to wear! haha

Here’s the brands with runway photos:

Nah, TGC is just a show, not a brand. Though they do collaborations like crazy. Like with UNIQLO putting out onepieces and what not to promote the show!

Loving the animal prints! So many years of fur + animal print = tacky and it’s finally looking good! Cute even!
I bet the place to buy the best jackets will be in the children’s sections of your favourite stores!

I’m in love with the ef-de skirt covered in bows. If it’s reasonable I may hunt that down!
Tiny bit disappointed with all the dark colours, A/W does not have to mean dark though I know ‘dark and sexy’ is popular with gyaru now anyway, but thank goodness for LIZ LISA!

I know, there is a pink houndstooth coat by Cecil Mcbee but that’s about it. It was all so… dark! It’s like they made it for Washington DC (everyone here wears black or gray DAILY)

You did a great job picking out some of the better looks from the show!
tbh, I wasn’t really feeling this year’s A/W :( The S/S one was so much better!
Agreed on the lacey black tights though~ I bought some at Express a couple of weeks ago & can’t wait to wear them!!

jenny said
September 9, 2009 @ 8:57 am

AGREEEEEED!! S/S was way better, but it usually always is because they hold the Shibuya Girls Collection then too so at least there’s more color!

The one romper reminds me of a cuter version of this new Rat Pack romper at FP!!

True, true haha~
omg I kind of love that romper though!! It would probably be super-long on me though *sigh* I do agree the TGC one is cuter though (but Japanese clothes are always cuter )

HHAHA I love the fun they have at these shows - the bags of chips, the coffee …. the rifle…

Love the delicate black dots on the sheer tights - is that Noma? the one with the coffee and chips - I love those! That whole Lowery’s Farm line was my favorite section

Whoa - Nicky Hilton has a line?!

I know this is a little bit off topic, so I apologize ahead of time:

I was recently invited to walk a designer fashion show, and it’s been almost two years since I walked a show. Therefore, I didn’t really pay attention to toning up my arms or stomach or back. Do you know if celluite reducing cream works/ have you used it? I was also wondering if any of your diets or weight loss methods interfere with height growth since I am still in my peak growing years. I noticed there are weight loss green teas at school (I’m an exchange student so I can’t read the nutrition information on the back) but I’m afraid it’ll devour the food I eat from my stomach and suck out the nutritions that are supposed to help me grow taller.

I hope I haven’t completely drowned you with questions! I would really appreciate any advice for weight loss and toning since the show is in less than two months! Thank you!!

I’d recommend trying NIVEA My Silhouette! Gel-Cream. I talked about it here:
http://sushi-cat.net/2009/07/03/sweet-etsy-items/

Nothing will reduce cellulite but this does firm up the skin keeping those areas from being all jiggly. I’ve already bought 2 tubes of it and can tell the difference when I start forgetting to apply it daily! It really makes your skin smooth and soft.

I didn’t do any sort of “crash” diet. I just ate healthier and was careful not to over eat anymore. So no, Eating healthy for your height and weight will NOT cause stunted growth. I’d recommend viewing my entries tagged “diet” to get a better idea of what I did. I just counted calories, stopped snacking on sugary junk foods & instead snacked of fruit and veggies, and voile’ the pounds came off!

Those weight loss green teas, by the way, are just basically laxatives. They’ll give you horrid stomach cramps and keep you on the toilet all night. I wouldn’t recommend them AT ALL.

The only dieting that’ll cause you to stunt your growth is not eating properly (ie starvation. You GOTTA eat!) and using extreme measures like diet pills. Those methods will just make you gain the weight back and harm your body.

Healthy eating and exercise is the only real successful route! I used livestrong.com to help me choose better foods (like turkey burgers instead of beef hamburgers!) and keep track of how much I was eating so I didn’t over eat and how often I was working out.

Thanks for the information! I’ll definitely at least try the gel-cream. I hope my upper arms won’t ‘jiggle’ when on the catwalk lol, especially since I’m wearing a one-shoulded, no back dress!

Anyways, thanks again!

I saw this Cher issue at my local Japanese bookstore during the weekend. My friend is a fan of the brand, but she’s never bought any of the brand books before.

Do you know what “9 stories” mean? Are they fashion articles?

Thank you! :3

jenny said
September 9, 2009 @ 9:16 pm

It’s just how they describe the different fashion shoots, they’re not reading articles at all. Just 9 fashion shoots.

Gahhh, I’m gonna have to see if I can get one of the magazines so I can get a Cher bag. I’ve loved the bag ever since I came across your blog (sheesh, that was a few years ago… Creeper alert HAHA!) T_T Must get!

I saw a cropped leopard print jacket with hot pink on the inside at F21! It was sooo cute! I was only there to get clothes for my school uniform so I didn’t pick it up~~ I love the leather trend too!

Only thing I don’t like are torn leggings… they look trashy imo =T Lace leggings are sexy, tho!

jenny said
September 9, 2009 @ 9:04 pm

I totally almost bought that jacket at F21!! Mike wasn’t crazy about it but now I kinda still want it anyway hahahaha :X

I’m not into the torn legging myself, I just see it as the blatant 80’s callback that it is~

Yeah, I was flipping the issues of Vivi for September and October and they were ALL pretty much leather wear and lots of lace tights! (that’s definitely something I want to get this fall, but I can’t seem to find any good ones so far) =(

Thigh high boots is also another thing I want to get this year, but the thing with thigh high boots is, you gotta match them with either skirts or shorts! And both of those are too cold to wear in the winter unless you LAYER with thick tights underneath and wear a long winter jacket like down to your knees or something. Another thing I find with shorts is that I only have ones that I bought for the summer and they’re a bit TOO short to even be layered. I find it so hard to find winter shorts that are just the right length for layering without having your BUTT sticking out when you sit down or something. D:

The leopard trend is pretty interesting. It reminds me of a onepiece top that I got a year to 2 years ago that I can probably put into use for this up coming fall/winter’s fashion, haha.

http://img3.imageshack.us/i/leopardtop1.jpg/

I guess things never get old in fashion? There’s this “recycle” process in fashion all the time where we revert fashion back in time, which is also part of the reason why I never give away or donate old clothes anymore because you MIGHT just be able to reuse them again to create a new and total different look than you had before.

You can order it from Kinokuniya’s site, the order form is in English.

Shipping will be about $7 so you can expect it to be about $28 total.

Let’s not forget…SEQUINS.

I went to Gaithersburg looking for a sem-casual dress popped into Charlotte Russe and Forever 21…Lawrd. I felt about ready to watch a drag show. Srsly. And you can’t just throw that stuff into the washer and be on your way. ..

Sequins need to go into the faaaaar back of the closet and stay there. D:
