Old vs New

Monday, March 23rd, 2009 | 59 Comments

I feel so out of it. I fell asleep earlier on the couch after dinner but got woken up by an IKEA manager calling my house telling me something I wanted was back in stock. Well FAIL because I already bought it Saturday so you woke me up for nothing

a few new IKEA items for my balcony

Finally got this stupid thing! Suck on that nosy neighbors who feel the need to stare at me while I’m working on my terrace garden! Now if it’ll just warm up enough so I can enjoy my new found privacy, haha! I bought the tiny outdoor cushion too. I think I’ll get the full bench cushion next time I go.

I had a really good weekend finally. Lately weekends have just suuucked. Sunday we went out to try a “new” restaurant. Really it’s an old restaurant I LOVED because they served southern foods but they closed suddenly. Apparently the owner passed away. The head chef was given all the recipes and reopened a new restaurant with the same menu. It’s still just as good!

Gumbo

Me apparently fascinated by my Dirty Rice

Dirty Rice dish

Lately a lot of friends have commented about how different I look compared to a few years ago. Well, mainly hair. I use photos as MSN display pics and it’s funny how they’ve changed over the years as I’ve grown my hair out. I had short hair for nearly a decade then in 2005 I started growing it out~ Anna wanted to see a photo of my short hair so here it is! The first photo is from March 2005 and the one after is from this weekend…

March 2005, pixie cut!

March 2009
longest it’s been since elementary school

I do plan to chop it all off again. Drastically! Maybe in another year? When I’m over my long hair. I love both long & short hair, I don’t have an all-time preference.

And thank you everyone for your support about my moronic neighbors and the helpful headphone reviews! I decided not to use their stain on our balcony. I figured I’d ALWAYS think of them every time I saw my balcony! I don’t want that, so we’re going to sand out the dripped stain as best as we can and think about what we want to do.

Oh wow your hair is so long compared to how it was before. I would never have the patience to grow it out like that.

Wow, I didn’t know that they invented those things that cover up your balcony. It’s a really nice way to prevent other people from starring at you

Ohh, those dishes look so yummy! Haha it’s making me hungry

Your hair is so beautiful!! I love the curls

Your hair looks soooo pretty, shiny, and soft! I love your curls.

Anyway, from the pictures, I think you pretty much look the same except that your hair is long and that your clothes or fashion style changed perhaps.

I personally think the long hair is really cute on you, but I’m not going to tell you how to cut it now am I? It’s great that you got the thing from IKEA, seeing all this house related stuff really makes me wish I could move out sooner :(

Wow, you look like a completely different person with short hair. Maybe it’s because I’m so used to seen you with long curly hair. Mmm…but cutting it back to short again? Not sure about that I think long curly hair really suits you But hey, it’s your hair, your decision

I totally remember your short hair!!! I want to cut my hair short again this summer, but I’m afraid my face is too big now :(

And did you get that cushion from Ikea? My cushion for my hard desk chair is really worn out, so I think I need a new one!

jenny said
March 25, 2009 @ 9:04 pm

Well if you’re gonna go short summer is when to do it! Added cooling benefit~~

Yea the cushion’s from IKEA, it’s soft even though it’s for outdoor use, it’s insanely cheap.

i love your hair now
but ialso like the pixie, i think the pixie is harder to pull off for a lot of girls so they go with the safer bet
im loving the recent pix of emi on her blog and i kinda wanna cut my hair like hers and dye it like that color
but alas no time
so for now this is fine
i want a fedora
im gonna wait till our LOVELY (apparently giant two storey) Forever 21 opens, boo urban outfitters and your bad prices

I like the red cushion! =3

And omg!! SO shoooort!!!! I think it’s even shorter than mine! Or maybe, it’s the same length, except it’s A LOT shorter in front :O It was weird seeing you with long long hair, and then short short hair :O But I guess it’s like that with everyone Two years ago I used to have suuuper long hair as well.. Longer than your currently I think. Just a bit It’s stressful taking care of long hair. And it’s so mainstream in Asia right now

Even though you look very punk and edgy in your short cut, I still think you look best with long hair =3 People say I look best in long hair as well :p I think there are very few people out there who actually looks BETTER with cropped hair than long hair Rihanna is one of them

Oh wow lookit how short your hair used to be! That’s so short! I always had mine short up until a few years ago when I started growing it out. Now I wouldn’t be without my long locks, even though they rip like hell whenever I brush them .

BTW I love your outfit in the second pic - the blue shirt and black top — so so pretty

your hat is so awesome! and the short haircut is so cute! very pixie-like.. reminds me a little bit of julia roberts as tinkerbell in Hook.

wow your so lucky! your hair looks great either way! i’ve always wanted to cut my hair extra short like that, but i don’t have the guts to do it + my family would kill me. all of them (parents, siblings, aunts, uncles!) make such a big fuss over my hair. they’re weird :p
& that’s good that you aren’t using their stain. you shouldn’t put up with whatever they like just bcus they’re stupid.

surprised me!
and it is quite the contrast from 2005

and now it’s to the bottom of my waist

long hair takes a lot of work ehh?

Wah, the balcony thing is super cute ~ I’m glad that they finally restocked it for you.

Your hair is super different! I normally cut my hair short too, but never that short, and I’ve never grown it out that long. BTW, your eyebrows are SUPER perfect. How do you do it?

The balcony cover is a nice touch. I’m lucky to have a view of the woods and only one apartment right under mine, so they can’t see me.
I think your long hair looks so beautiful and suits you so well. You style it oh so cute as well! For the longest time I have wanted to grow mine out similar to yours, but my hair grows incredibly slow T__T
That’s cool that old restaurant opened back up I’m a fan of P.F. Chang’s, and since it’s a chain restaurant I don’t think it will be going out any time soon.
